This Is The Life

There's definitely a reason why Macdonald is 2x platinum Lyrically, the album is superb. And the rhythms of the songs flow together with Macdonald's words in ways that seem almost perfect. Almost perfect is way better than perfect in this case. Her almost perfect delivery allows for some measure of authenticity to project in the sounds, regardless of the amount of post-processing that presumably went into the recording of the album.
There is admittedly some "sameness" to the tracks, especially "This is the Life" and "Let's Start a Band." But the album has a collectiveness, a completeness to it because such similarities exist. An album in my view should have such a sort of unity to it. Otherwise it can seem scattered. Is this worth the price? Absolutely. "Youth of Today" can easily cover the value of the whole package. Consider what the impact that single alone must have in a live setting. Scotland's finest at work here.
